ISLAMABAD: Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has said that a of convoy of PTI activists heading towards Adiala Jail was stopped due to security and administrative reasons.
In a statement posted on social media platform X, he responded to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, saying that attempts are being made to mislead the public through “emotional narratives and political drama.”
He emphasized that no individual is above the law or exempt from security protocols, adding that portraying the incident as an insult to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was part of political point-scoring.
Tarar further said that citizens repeatedly suffer due to disruptive political activities, including road blockages that harm businesses and cause public inconvenience.
He stressed that peaceful protest is a constitutional right of every political party, but no group has the authority to hold cities hostage or violate citizens’ rights.
The minister also criticized what he called exaggerated claims regarding the health of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, saying such narratives were being used to escalate tensions.
He added that legal channels, including courts and relevant institutions, are available for addressing concerns, and urged against turning every issue into an anti-state campaign.
Concluding his statement, Tarar said Pakistan’s progress depends on the rule of law and strong institutions, warning that chaos, unrest, and misleading narratives hinder national development.
