TORONTO: Portugal secured a place in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 16 after defeating Croatia 2-1 in an entertaining Round of 32 clash on Thursday.
Portugal took the lead through Cristiano Ronaldo before Gonçalo Ramos added a second goal to strengthen his side’s advantage. Croatia pulled one back through Prcic but were unable to find an equalizer despite a spirited fightback.
The victory sends Portugal into the Round of 16, where they will face Spain in a highly anticipated knockout encounter.
