RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned what it described as provocative actions by Israeli forces at Al-Aqsa Mosque, including the raising of an Israeli flag within the mosque’s compound.
In a statement issued from Riyadh, the Saudi Foreign Ministry denounced the incident as a clear violation of international law and an affront to the sanctity of one of Islam’s holiest sites.
The ministry stressed that the historical and legal status of Jerusalem and its holy places is firmly established and cannot be altered under any circumstances.
Saudi Arabia rejected any actions that could inflame Muslim sentiments or undermine the status of the holy city, warning that such provocations risk escalating tensions across the region.
The kingdom called on the international community and major global powers to take immediate responsibility and intervene to halt what it termed illegal and inflammatory actions by Israeli authorities.
The statement further warned that continued provocations could jeopardize regional peace and stability, urging decisive global measures to prevent further escalation.
