RAWALPINDI: Security forces conducted intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in North Waziristan, killing 21 militants, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The military’s media wing said a total of 48 terrorists were killed over the past 72 hours during multiple operations in the region. It added that the operations dealt a significant blow to what it described as “Indian-sponsored Fitna al-Khawarij,” a term used by Pakistani authorities for banned militant groups.

ISPR stated that four high-value militant commanders were among those killed, including individuals identified as Khalid Raza alias Salar, Muftoon, Musa, and Imran alias Ayan. These individuals were reportedly involved in several terrorist activities, including attacks on security forces and civilians, and were wanted by law enforcement agencies.

According to the statement, targeted operations were carried out in Miran Shah and surrounding areas, where militant hideouts were effectively engaged. Heavy exchanges of fire reportedly took place before the security forces eliminated the remaining militants.

The military also confirmed that weapons and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants. It added that sanitization operations are ongoing to clear remaining threats in the area.

ISPR said that security forces remain committed to eliminating terrorism from the country under ongoing counterterrorism efforts, including operations aimed at dismantling externally supported militant networks.
