Spain Beat France to Reach World Cup Final in 16 Years

DALLAS: Spain booked their place in the FIFA World Cup 2026 final after defeating France 2-0 in the first semifinal, reaching the tournament’s title match for the first time since 2010.

Spain made a strong start and took the lead in the 22nd minute when Mikel Oyarzabal converted a penalty for his fifth goal of the tournament.

Pedro Porro doubled Spain’s advantage in the 58th minute with a superb strike to seal the victory.

France, led by star forward Kylian Mbappé, failed to find the net despite several attempts. Mbappé, who had scored eight goals earlier in the tournament, was kept scoreless in the semifinal.

The victory sends Spain into their first World Cup final in 16 years. The Spaniards last won the tournament in 2010.

The second semifinal between Argentina and England is scheduled to be played on Wednesday, with the winner advancing to face Spain in the final.
