Sylhet Test: Bangladesh all Out for 278 on Day One

SYLHET: The first day of the Sylhet Test concluded with Bangladesh being bowled out for 278 runs in their first innings against Pakistan.

At the close of play, Pakistan were 21/0 in response.

Pakistan, looking to bounce back in the two-match Test series, won the toss and opted to field—a decision justified by their bowlers early on. Mohammad Abbas provided Pakistan the first breakthrough in the very first over and later claimed a second wicket at 44 runs.

Bangladesh lost their third wicket at 63, when Khurram Shahzad struck. By the end of the first session, Bangladesh were 101/3. The Pakistani bowling attack maintained pressure in the second session as well, and by tea, six Bangladesh wickets had fallen for 168 runs.

In the third session, Litton Das played a responsible yet aggressive innings, scoring a brilliant century. His 126-run knock helped Bangladesh reach a total of 278.

For Bangladesh, Najmul Hossain Shanto scored 29, Tanzid Hasan 26, Mushfiqur Rahim 23, Mominul Haque 22, and Taijul Islam 16.

For Pakistan, Khurram Shahzad took 4 wickets, Mohammad Abbas 3, Hasan Ali 2, and Sajid Khan 1.

In reply, Pakistan reached 21 without loss at stumps. Openers Azaan Awais (13*) and Abdullah Fazal (8*) will resume batting on the second day.

Pakistan’s squad includes Shan Masood, Babar Azam, Saud Shakeel, Mohammad Rizwan, Salman Agha, Khurram Shahzad, Sajid Khan, Hasan Ali, and Mohammad Abbas, while Imam-ul-Haq, Shaheen Afridi, and Noman Ali were not included in this match.
