Top Leadership Welcomes Iranian President on Visit to Pakistan

RAWALPINDI: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday for a high-level official visit, receiving a formal red-carpet welcome at Nur Khan Air Base.

The Iranian president was received by President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari was also present at the airport.

President Pezeshkian was presented a 21-gun salute, while Pakistan Air Force jets performed a ceremonial flypast in his honour. Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian arrived in Islamabad and was received by senior Pakistani officials.

According to the Foreign Office, the visit is taking place on the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

During his stay, the Iranian president will hold meetings with Pakistan’s top civil and military leadership, including the president, prime minister, chairman senate, speaker national assembly, and foreign minister.

Officials said the talks will focus on strengthening bilateral relations, expanding cooperation in trade, energy, border security, and people-to-people contacts, along with discussions on regional and global developments.

Both sides are expected to conduct a comprehensive review of ties and explore new avenues for enhanced cooperation.
