ISLAMABAD: A new round of negotiations between the United States and Iran is set to begin today in Switzerland following the signing of the Islamabad memorandum of understanding, marking a significant step toward de-escalation.

According to the Swiss foreign ministry, delegations from both countries will meet in the city of Bürgenstock to discuss the implementation of the agreement. Representatives from Pakistan and Qatar are also expected to be present in their roles as mediators.

Officials have not disclosed details regarding the level of representation or the exact agenda of the talks. The Swiss government has also withheld further information about the format and scope of the meeting.

The development comes after diplomatic efforts led by Pakistan helped bring both sides closer to a negotiated framework, raising hopes for progress on long-standing tensions.

It remains unclear whether additional countries will participate in the dialogue, as references to broader involvement were reportedly removed from the latest official statement.
