ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has strongly rejected a report aired by CBS News alleging the presence of Iranian aircraft at Nur Khan Airbase, calling the claims “misleading, speculative, and sensational.”

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affair said the report was based on unfounded assumptions and appeared to be an attempt to undermine ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at regional stability and peace.

The Foreign Office clarified that following a ceasefire and during the initial phase of Islamabad-hosted diplomatic engagements, aircraft from Iran and the United States had arrived in Pakistan strictly for facilitating diplomatic personnel, security teams and administrative staff involved in negotiations.

It added that some aircraft and supporting personnel had remained temporarily in the country in anticipation of possible future rounds of talks. However, the ministry said that this presence was purely logistical and had no connection to any military activity or emergency deployment.

According to the statement, although formal negotiations have not yet resumed, high-level diplomatic contacts between relevant parties have continued. In this context, visits by Iran’s Foreign Minister to Islamabad were facilitated under routine administrative arrangements.

The Foreign Office added that Pakistan had consistently acted as a neutral and constructive facilitator of dialogue, supporting efforts to reduce tensions in the region. It said all logistical support provided was in line with this role and carried out with full transparency and communication with all stakeholders.

Rejecting the US media report outright, the ministry stated that such narratives were “devoid of facts” and risked undermining peace initiatives at a sensitive time.

Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to supporting dialogue, regional stability, and all sincere efforts aimed at de-escalation and peaceful resolution of disputes.
