WASHINGTON: The Trump administration has sent a draft of the Gaza Peace Board charter to 60 countries.
The charter includes a requirement that countries wanting long-term membership must contribute $1 billion. Each country will serve a term of three years, starting when the charter is implemented. However, countries that donate more than $1 billion in the first year will not be required to follow the three-year membership rule.
Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry confirmed that Pakistan had officially been invited to join the Gaza Peace Board. Pakistan will continue to work with the international community to support peace and security in Gaza.
Israel has rejected the formation of the Gaza Peace Board, stating that it goes against Israeli government policies. Israel also said it was not consulted about the creation of the board. The Israeli Foreign Minister is expected to discuss the matter with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Trump’s announcement of the Gaza Peace Board includes several key figures, including U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump’s Middle East representative Steve Vaitkoff, World Bank President Ajay Banga, Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
