QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has announced that 11 suspects have been arrested in connection with the brutal murder of a woman and a man.

The case was registered after a disturbing video of the killing for honor by a group of people went viral on social media.

Taking notice of the incident, CM Bugti earlier confirmed that the identities of the victims shown in the video had been established. He said in a statement that an operation was underway and all individuals involved in the crime will be brought to justice.

“This is a heinous crime, and the state stands with the oppressed,” the Chief Minister said, vowing that no perpetrator will be spared.

Earlier, Bugti had revealed that initial investigations suggest the tragic event occurred a few days before Eid, although the video only surfaced recently. Authorities acted swiftly upon its release.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under anti-terrorism laws. One primary suspect involved in the woman’s murder was caught apprehended first and later the chief minister claimed in a post in X that 10 more suspects have been rounded up.

Social media users have strongly condemned the killings, describing the act as “the height of ignorance,” and called on society to reject such brutality disguised as tradition or honor.
