MANADO: A devastating fire broke out at a retirement home in the city of Manado, Indonesia, on Sunday night, killing at least 16 people and injuring three others. According to the local fire department, the blaze was reported around 8:30 PM.
Authorities stated that several bodies were found in the rooms of the nursing home, with the fire being brought under control roughly an hour later. However, the police are still investigating the cause of the fire.
The police have been working on identifying the victims, and families of the deceased have been urged to contact local hospitals. A local official mentioned that some of the bodies were so severely burned that identification has become extremely difficult.
This tragic incident follows another deadly fire earlier this month in the capital, Jakarta, where a blaze in a seven-story office building claimed the lives of 22 people.–Reuters
