KOHAT: At least 16 people were killed and 12 others injured when tribesmen clashed over the ownership of a coalmine in the Dara Adamkhel area of Kohat.
Area police said the two tribes had the dispute over the mine for many years. The dead abd injured belonged to both sides.An official said eleven of the deceased belonged to the Sunny Khel tribe, while five were from the Akhorwal tribe.
All the 12 injured belonged to the Sunny Khel tribe.
After the incident, police reached the area and shifted the injured and the dead bodies to hospital.
Reinforcement of the police and paramilitary forces have been called yo the area in order to maintain law and order, a senior police officer said.
