220 students banned from sitting MDCAT for two years

These students were caught cheating in the medical colleges' entry test on Sept 10.

PESHAWAR: As many as 220 students have been banned from sitting the medical colleges’ entry test for two years for using unfair means in the test held on Sept 10.

The decision was taken by the Khyber Medical University Peshawar on the basis of reports that these students were caught cheating in the test on Sept 10 this year.

The Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT) is taken every year across the four provinces by respective medical universities. Hundreds of thousands of students sit the test for admission to medical and dental colleges in public and private sectors.

In a surprising move, these over 200 students were caught cheating in the test by using a bluetooth device in different centers in KP this year. Similar cases were also reported from Punjab and Sindh.

The Sindh caretaker government has already ordered retaking if the entry test.

The device had been provided by a gang whose members helped the students solve the questions sitting outside the exam. The caretaker government of KP has already cancelled the test held on Sept 10.

The Khyber Medical University today said the decision to ban the students for two years was a warning to others not to try to become doctors by using unfair means.
