$250 Visa Integrity Fee on Travelers from Non–Waiver Countries

WASHINGTON: The United States has announced the introduction of a $250 “Visa Integrity Fee” for citizens of countries that are not part of the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). The fee will take effect on October 1, 2025.

According to a report by Reuters, the move is expected to add further strain to America’s already pressured travel and tourism sector.

Official figures show that foreign tourist arrivals to the U.S. fell by 3.1% in July, totaling 19.2 million visitors. The new fee will apply to travelers from major markets such as India, China, Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico.

Industry experts warn the measure could discourage international travel. Gabe Rezzi, president of global travel firm Altour, said: “Any barrier to travel reduces the number of trips. As the summer season winds down, this challenge is likely to intensify.”

Analysts also caution that stricter U.S. visa policies may trigger reciprocal measures from other nations, potentially reshaping global travel patterns in the months ahead.
