ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s Political Affairs Adviser Rana Sanaullah has said the 27th constitutional amendment is being exaggerated as a major crisis.
Speaking to a private TV channel, he noted that many issues raised by Bilawal Bhutto have already been under discussion for months.
Sanaullah emphasized that the government will consult its allies and other stakeholders before finalizing the amendment. He stressed that the amendment poses no threat to democracy and that consultations have only just begun.
On the constitutional framework, he said the government has long supported the creation of a constitutional court, and that judges’ transfers should be decided by the Judicial Commission, not the government.
He also criticized opposition parties for taking an overly aggressive stance without seeking consensus.
He concluded by stating that no constitutional amendment will be implemented without agreement among all key stakeholders.
