38 Nursing Colleges Declared Fake Across Pakistan
PNC says five fake colleges are in Islamabad, 25 in Punjab, five in Sindh and two in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Nursing and Midwifery Council (PNMC) has officially published a list of 38 fake nursing colleges on its website, highlighting a growing concern in the healthcare education sector.
The list includes five colleges in Islamabad, 25 in Punjab, five in Sindh, and two in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Despite repeated warnings and public notices from the council, many of these institutions continue to enroll students, disregarding official directives.
The issue has been exacerbated by a recent presidential ordinance aimed at restructuring the Nursing Council, which has caused delays in the registration and inspection processes of nursing colleges nationwide.
The PNMC has strongly advised parents and prospective students to avoid unregistered and unauthorized institutions, warning that degrees from such colleges will not be recognized.
The country is currently facing a severe shortage of qualified nurses, and according to PNMC officials, while there are 755 registered nursing colleges across Pakistan, many fall short of the required standards to produce competent nursing professionals.
The fake colleges listed for Islamabad include Capital College of Nursing and Medical Health, Edward College of Nursing, National Institute of Modern Languages and Sciences, Institute of Health Sciences, and Unique Technical and Professional College. These institutions were declared fake due to their affiliation with unaccredited councils.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mardan College of Nursing and The Orbit College of Nursing and Allied Sciences in Swabi are on the fake list. Karachi’s fake colleges include Aman Institute of Health Sciences and Nursing, Media Aid School of Nursing, and Pre Institute of Nursing and Health Sciences. Hyderabad College of Nursing and Kainat Institute of Nursing in Khairpur have also been deemed fake.
Punjab has the highest number of fake colleges, including Midcare College of Nursing in Attock, Halal Nursing and Midwifery School in Faisalabad, Professional Studies Institute of Nursing, Professional College of Nursing in Gujranwala, Punjab Nursing Academy in Jhang, Boston International College of Nursing, Muhammadan College of Nursing, and Quaid-e-Azam Institute of Medical Sciences in Lahore.
Rawalpindi’s list includes Brilliant Institute of Sciences and Technology, City Institute of Medical Sciences, EDU Zone Education of Knowledge, Falah Institute of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences, Institute of Professional and Technical Studies, Marah Institute of Medical Sciences, Pearl Institute, Sadozai Institute of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences, and Severe Institute of Medical Sciences.
Other fake colleges include Best College of Nursing and Midwifery and Pak International College of Nursing in Sahiwal, King Abdullah College of Nursing in Sargodha, and Iqra College of Nursing and Mother and Child Home College of Nursing in Sialkot.
The Pakistan Nursing and Midwifery Council urged all students and their families to verify the accreditation status of nursing institutions before enrolling, to safeguard their future and ensure they receive a legitimate and quality education.
