41 Pakistani beggars deported from Malaysia

KARACHI: As many as 41 Pakistani beggars, including 26 women, have been deported from Malaysian capital city of Kuala Lumpur.

After the crackdown on Pakistani beggars in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar and other Gulf countries, the majority of Pakistani beggars turned to Malaysia, according to immigration authorities here.

As many as 41 beggars, including 26 women, have been deported from Malaysia in the last three months. An investigation has been initiated by registering a case at the FIA Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Karachi.

According to FIA sources, three verifications and six inquiries were also registered at AHTC Lahore in this regard.

According to FIA sources, the majority of beggars deported from Malaysia in the last three months were women.

Of these beggars, 16 belonged to Kashmore and others were from Rahim Yar Khan, Faisalabad, Sadiqabad, Lahore and other areas of Punjab. Of these, 21 had gone from Allama Iqbal Airport Lahore, seven from Jinnah International Airport Karachi, one from Sialkot and two from Benazir Bhutto Airport Islamabad.

Moreover, 21 beggars travelled to Malaysia on visit visas, nine on tourist visas and the others on various other visas. Three of the women, Rukhsana, Azima Mai and Hasina Khatun, were offloaded and deported to Muscat, while the others were caught begging in Malaysia.

All these beggars have also been blacklisted and an investigation is underway in this regard.
