QUETTA: In reaction to the suicide attack on a Rabiul Awal procession in Mastung town that left over 50 people dead, traders on Sunday observed a shutter-down strike throughout the province on Sunday.
The call for the strike was given by Etihad Ahl-e-Sunnat Balochistan chapter. Reports showed business activities remained suspended in Quetta, Mastung, Ziarat, Kalat, Zhob and other cities. The traders and other people also held rallies to condemn the attack.
The strike call was backed by civil society organizations as well as political and religious parties. Besides giving the strike call, Etihad Ahl-e-Sunnat had also demanded that the government should arrest the mastermind of the tragedy and brought them to justice.
It may be noted that army chief, interior minister and the governor of Balochsitan have vowed to fight the terrorists, adding Indian agency RAW was involved in the latest attack.
Balochistan’s caretaker information minister Jan Achakzai today said the state would spare no stone un-turned to protect the life and property of the citizens. Terrorist incidents were occurring across the country daily and it has a set pattern. It is strange why these attacks are only happening in Pakistan and not in other regional countries.
“This means there is a mastermind behind these attacks who is systematically destabilizing us. Enough is enough,” the minister maintained.
