Alvi asks universities to upgrade their academic programs
Says teaching methods, syllabus and skills should also be updated according to market needs.
ISLAMABAD: Universities need to upgrade their academic programs in line with the changing demands of job market, said President Dr Arif Alvi on Monday.
Chairing the 6th session of the Senate of Comsats University Islamabad, the president said teaching methods, syllabus and skills should also be updated according to the market needs.
The president said universities should start online education system and find new ways to increase revenue and engage more professionals to secure research grants.
The president said compared to other countries of the region, the number of students seeking admissions in Pakistani universities was very low. He asked the universities to utilize online education system for increasing their graduates.
President Alvi also stressed the need for the universities to hold regular meetings of their senate for timely decision making. He also directed for immediate filling of vacant posts of senate members in different universities.
The universities should also start the process for recruitment of teaching and administrative staff besides establishing new departments keeping in view the needs of the market.
