KP chief minister orders probe into killing of college student

Says broad daylight murder of youth by armed men is a serious issue.

PESHAWAR: Caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Azam Khan on Thursday took notice of the killing of a college student by armed men during an attempt to snatch his cellphone.

The chief minister directed the inspector general of police to submit a report on the incident and immediately suspend the SHO of the concerned police station. He said all-out efforts should be made to ensure immediate arrest of those involved in the killing.

He termed the happening of such incidents in broad daylight a matter of serious concern and directed the concerned authorities to take result oriented measures for effective prevention of such incidents.

The chief minister also directed them to ensure protection of the lives and properties of citizens at all costs adding that patrolling system be improved and strengthened to prevent street crimes.

The chief minister expressed sympathies with the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul. He assured them that elements involved in the heinous crime would be brought to justice soon.

Meanwhile, the chief minister also took notice of the alleged incident of misbehavior with a local journalist by staff members of Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar. He directed the adviser on health to get the allegation investigated and submit a report.
