ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency on Wednesday arrested a former chief executive officer of the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) in a mega corruption case.
The agency arrested Sheikh Akhtar after the FIA court judge Shahrukh Arjumand cancelled his pre-arrest bail in the case.
According to the FIA, Sheikh had gotten the job at DRAP and made irregularities worth two abd half billion rupees. While in the key post from 2018 to 2019, his PhD degree was found to be fake.
The FIA told the court that Sheikh’s custody was needed to probe into the corruption case. The judge accepted the plea and cancelled his bail after which he was arrested from the courtroom.
