Some forces dreamt of eliminating PPP by killing Benazir: Bilawal

Says PPP believes in democracy and took part in election even after assassination of Benazir.

LARKANA: PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Wednesday said that 16 years ago some forces thought that they would eliminate the PPP by killing Benazir Bhutto.

However, since then, he added, the supporters and workers of the party gather at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh on December 27 and with a new vigor and force challenge those same forces.

Bilawal was speaking at a gathering in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh in connection with the 16th death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto who was assassinated this day at Rawalpindi’s Liaquat Bagh.

He said the only political party that can save the federation is the PPP. We made the 1973 constitution and through the 18th amendment restored it,  he added.

We do not believe on the tactic of snatching nomination papers grom rival candidates in elections because we believe in democracy and took part in election even after the assassination of Benazir.

He also criticized former prime ministers Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan and said one was taking part in election to avoid jail and the other to get out of jail.

Promises for elections

Bilawal said if his party won the elections, it would take a public welfare initiatives which include doubling the salaries of government employees, making electricity free for those using up to 300 units, ensuring access to education free for every child, introducing free medical treatment across Pakistan, and introducing Hari card for farmers and Mazdoor card for laborers.

Meanwhile, Asifa Bhutto, sister of Bilawal Bhutto, said Decision 27, 2007, was the black day and she and her family still wait for justice for the assassination of her mother.
