ISLAMABAD: President Arif Alvi on Monday administered oath to newly-elected Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at Awane Sadr.
The ceremony was attended by former president Asif Ali Zardari, ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif, chief ministers of Punjab Maryam Nawaz, Sindh Murad Ali Shah and Balochistan Sarfraz Bugti. Army chief Asif Munir was also present.
After taking oath, the prime minister reached the Prime Minister House where a guard of honor was presented to him.
Shehbaz Sharif was elected as the 24th prime minister of the country by the National Assembly of Pakistan on Sunday. He scored 201 votes against 92 of the opposition Sunni Ittehad Council. To become the prime minister, he needed 169 votes.
