Strict action against power, gas pilferers ordered

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to launch a vigorous crackdown on electricity and gas pilferers across the country.

The decision was made at a meeting geld at the Interior Ministry with the minister in the chair. 

It was decided that committees would be formed to coordinate with different departments including police to bring all those involved in theft of electricity and gas to book.

Because of the theft if electricity and gas, not only the government was suffering losses worth billions of rupees every year but the bill paying consumers were facing outages.

Earlier, similar drive had been launched by the previous government during which a large number of illegal connections were detected and the pilferers fined and put behind bars.

The meeting at the interior ministry was also briefed about human smuggling by gangs and death of job seekers abroad in differs shipwreck incidents.

The interior minister directed the concerned departments including the Federal Investigation Agency to also launch a crackdown on human smugglers.
