ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office on Friday took strong exception to provocative and repeated claims made by Indian political leaders regarding Azad Kashmir.
In her weekly media briefing, Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said that the statements of the Indian leaders were provocative and against international laws under which the issue of Kashmir was to be decided in accordance with the wishes of the people of Kashmir.
She said historical and legal facts as well as ground realities belied the baseless and provocative claims of India over Azad Kashmir.
She advised India to help the international community implement the United Nations Security Council resolutions through a plebiscite yo ascertain the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
It may be mentioned here that before every general elections, Indian leaders, especially those belonging to the BJP, make such claims to win votes of extremist Hindus.
During the recent visit of Iranian President Syyed Ebrahim Raisi to Pakistan, the two sides stressed the need for the resolution of the Kashmir issue in a peaceful way in accordance with the resolutions of the UNSC. India expressed its resentment over the joint statement and said New Delhi would take up the issue with Tehran.
