LONDON: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi during his visit here has requested for support to tackle the challenge of rising cybercrimes in Pakistan.
He highlighted the issue and sought the UK government support during his meetings with the National Crime Agency Director General of the James Babbage and National Security of Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office Director General Jonathan Allen in London.
At these meetings, it was decided by the UK authorities that Pakistani officers will be trained by the National Crime Agency of the UK on cybercrimes and counter-narcotics.
Cybercrimes have risen in Pakistan but there are issues to tackle such incidents due to lack of expertise and trained human resource. Recently, the government has decided to separate the cybercrime unit form the Federal Investigation Unit and make it an independent department.
Complaints lodged with the FIA by cybercrime victims remain unattended for months due to the shortage of staff and the victims continue suffering.
