LONDON: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has ordered the authorities concerned to ensure timely issuance of passports to overseas Pakistanis.
He issued the direction during a visit to the passport and NADRA office in London. During the visit, applicants at the passport office complained about delay in issuance of passports to them.
The minister directed the quarters concerned to ensure that passport is used on time. He said passport in urgent basis should be issued within a week and on normal application in a month. This timeline should be ensured in all passport offices across the world.
Earlier, urgent passport was issued in 45 days and normal in four months creating lots of issues for overseas Pakistanis. Even, in most cases, the applicants had to wait for more time to get the passport.
The minister also formed a monitoring team headed by his personal security officer ASP Shehar Bano to ensure the issuance of passports within the set deadline.
In case of a complaint, the applicant can contact the monitoring team which will issue its contact number and an email address soon.
