Govt jacks up petroleum prices

Public burdened with inflation and high taxes as new financial year begins

ISLAMABAD: The government increased the prices of petroleum products along with the imposition of taxes as the new financial year started on July 1.

According to a notification, the price of petrol has been increased by Rs7.45 per litre and its new prices gas now gone up to Rs265.61 per litre. Similarly, A Rs9.65 increase has been made to the price of high speed diesel taking it to Rs277.45 per litre.

In the budget, the government has stated that the levy of the petroleum products would be increased to Rs80 from the current Rs60 per litte, so more increase will be made on the prices of petrol and diesel even if the prices deceased in the international market.

Public has already been burdened with inflation and high taxes and as new financial year began today,  a flood of inflation will hit the masses due to surrender of the government to the IMF.
