Indian Army raids houses in Srinagar at night, indiscriminately tortures civilians

SRINAGAR: In Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar, Indian troops raided homes at night, harassing and brutally beating civilians.

According to the Kashmir Media Service, Indian troops and paramilitary personnel entered the homes of civilians in the HMT and adjoining areas at midnight, dragged residents out, tortured them, used obscene language with women, raped them, and forced to chant the slogan “Jai Shri Ram”.

An eyewitness told the media that many young and old people were injured due to the brutal violence of Indian soldiers. He said soldiers dragged him out of his house and tortured him for hours in a nearby field in the bitter cold of the night. Indian soldiers forcibly shouted slogans of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ at him, the eyewitness added.

A young man named Bilal Hussain said that he was sitting on the bed in his room looking at his mobile phone when there was a loud knock on the door and when he opened the door he was shocked to see about forty Indian soldiers.

He said Indian troops did not allow him to wear boots and took his parents out of the house and stood in an alley. He did not say that about twenty more people from nearby houses had gathered in the street in the bitter cold. Hussain said that an Indian army approached him and said that you people will never forget this night and this is just the beginning.

He said that the army was repeatedly asking him the same question where the Mujahideen are, in whose house the Mujahideen have eaten. Hamza, another young man who was tortured by Indian soldiers, said that Indian soldiers entered his house at night and evacuated all his family members.

Hamza said that the soldiers had been beating him for a long time. About a dozen youths injured by Indian troops are currently being treated at a hospital in Srinagar, he said. While, several women told the media that Indian soldiers raided their homes and severely harassed them.
