State Bank Keeps Interest Rate Unchanged at 11.50%

KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Monday left its key policy rate unchanged at 11.50 percent, following a meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) chaired by Governor Jameel Ahmad.

The central bank decided to maintain the benchmark interest rate at 11.50 percent for the next monetary policy period.

The policy rate has remained unchanged since April 27, and the MPC opted to retain the existing level after reviewing the country’s inflation outlook, key economic indicators, and the potential impact of ongoing tensions in the Middle East on Pakistan’s economy.

According to the SBP, the committee assessed domestic and external economic developments before reaching its decision to keep the policy rate unchanged.

The latest monetary policy signals the central bank’s cautious approach as it continues to monitor inflation trends and broader economic conditions before making any future adjustments to interest rates.
