ISLAMABAD: The government is likely to convene the national assembly to meet on Friday October 18th, according to media reports.
It has been learnt that the government will present in the house the 26th constitutional Amendment Bill under which the establishment of a constitutional court and other matters are being made part of the law.
The government earlier planned to introduce the bill in both the national assembly and the Senate. However, the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation in Islamabad from October 15 to 16 delayed the process.
To pass the constitutional Amendment Bill from Parliament they ruling collision need s to third majority in both houses of the Parliament.
It has been learnt that the government was in contact with some members of the opposition PTI of jailed Prime Minister Imran Khan to make it possible for it to pass the law.
Meanwhile, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazal Rahman has already said that political parties have developed consensus on the constitutional package. He is also expected to meet PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in Islamabad on Tuesday.
It has been learnt that soon after the conclusion of the SCO summit and departure of the delegates the government will convene sessions of both the National Assembly and Senate and present the constitutional package bill in Parliament.
