Kashmiri girl lands in jail after crossing LOC to marry lover

MUZAFFARABAD: The police in Azad Jammu and Kashmir have arrested a girl who crossed the Line of Control (LOC) to marry her lover in Azad Kashmir.

According to media reports, local people informed police that a girl had crossed the LOC and reached a border village in the limits of the Kahuta police station. Police reached the village and took the girl into custody and shifted her to the police station for legal process.

The girl told the police that she had crossed the Line of Control and reached the Poonch area of Azad Kashmir on November 24 to marry a young man who she identified as Imran.

She said that after crossing the border she reached the house of her lover after which the police were informed by the villagers which led to their arrest.

She said that she had been in contact with Imran for quite long time. She said that Imran worked with her brother in a foreign country.

The police also arrested Imran and shifted them to jail. However, the parents of Imran have approached a court to get them released.
