The petition was filed by families of some of the Pakistani laborers seeking court intervention and direction to government to bring back them safely. The petitioners said that their sons, fathers and nephews were taken to Malaysia and Singapore by an agent but after reaching there they were taken to labor camps in Myanmar and detained them as bonded workers.

The Pakistanis also included some women and most of them were jobless young man who were hoodwinked by human traffickers promising them that they would be provided lucrative jobs with all facilities.

The Islamabad High Court issued notices to the government and sought details of steps taken to bring back the Pakistanis and take action against the human smugglers.

It may be noted here that a large number of Pakistanis have died in ship and boat wrecks while trying to reach Europe through illegal means, Two days earlier,a boat carrying illegal immigrants sank near the coast of Greece and most of the victims were from Pakistan.

Despite these incidents, the government has failed to take action against human smugglers who still continue their illegal business without any check.
