ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has formed a committee to hold tops with Pakistan PTI of jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
According to media reports, the committee consists of ruling PML-N and other parties who are part of the government.
So far, it has been learnt that Rana Sanaullah, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Senator Irfanullah Siddiqui will represent the PML-N in the committee that will hold talks with the PTI.
The prime minister has decided to form the committee of the allied parties on the recommendations of Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq, who also belongs to the ruling PML-N.
The prime minister expressed the hope that talks with the opposition PTI will be held while keeping all national interests in mind.
A few days ago, PTI chairman Gohar Ali Khan had met the speaker of the National Assembly and requested him to play his role for bringing the government and the opposition party to the negotiating table. He had also said that the PTI was ready to bury the hatchet and hold talks with the government for the greater interest of the country.
However, the PTI leadership has stated openly that the government was not serious in holding talks with the political party of the preposition led by the jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
One of its leaders yesterday announced that the PTI would launch its civil disobedience movement from Dec 23 as the government was not serious in holding talks with the party to resolve in burning issues.
