ISLAMABAD: The World Bank has approved a loan of $102 million for Pakistan to augment its efforts against climate change impacts.
The money approved by the World Bank for Pakistan will be for poor farmers affected by climate change. With this amount, small loans will be given to farmers affected by climate change.
The money is part of the World Bank’s 10-year Country Partnership Programme aimed at raising incomes for people affected by climate change.
The World Bank Country Director says that microfinance is an important tool for financial assistance to the poor, adding 1890,000 people including one million women will benefit from this project.
According to the World Bank Country Director, 54 projects are underway in Pakistan with the support of the World Bank. The total investment of the World Bank in Pakistan has reached $15.7 billion.
