TEHRAN: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said his country will respond to the attack on one of its cargo ships, blaming Ukraine for the incident.
According to Iranian media, Araghchi made the remarks during separate telephone conversations with European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
The Iranian foreign minister alleged that the attack on the Iranian vessel was carried out by Ukraine at Israel’s instigation and was intended to draw Europe further into the conflict.
Araghchi reiterated that Iran would respond to the attack, though he did not provide details on the nature or timing of any potential action.
The reported conversations come amid heightened regional tensions and growing international concern over the widening scope of the conflict.
