Swat Suicide Attack Suspect Belonged to Dir, Investigators Say

Three arrested for abducting, torturing Canadian national

SWAT: Investigations into the suicide attack near a police station in Kabal, Swat, are underway, with investigators identifying the suspected attacker as a resident of Dir.

According to the investigation team, the suspected suicide bomber had allegedly been involved in previous terrorist incidents. Authorities have obtained his record and are also investigating whether he had previously crossed the border.

Investigators said the attacker reached Kabal Police Station on foot before carrying out the attack.

The blast, which occurred a day earlier, claimed the lives of 17 people, including seven police personnel and 10 civilians. A case has been registered under terrorism-related provisions.

Rescue 1122 spokesperson Bilal Ahmed Faizi said 12 injured people, including eight police officers and four civilians, are currently receiving treatment at Saidu Sharif Hospital.

Rescue teams have provided first aid to more than 15 injured people and shifted them to different hospitals. The operation involved 13 ambulances and more than 45 rescue personnel.

The FIR, registered at a Counter-Terrorism Department police station on the complaint of the Kabal SHO, states that a protest by the Pasoon organisation was underway at Kabal Chowk when the explosion occurred near the police station’s main gate at around 6:04pm.

The FIR says a large number of police officers and civilians were killed and injured. Investigators have also cited the possible involvement of TTP commander Muzaffar and other militants, though the investigation is still underway.
