ISLAMABAD: Pakistani students have yet again received the highest number of Erasmus Mundus scholarships to study in various universities across European countries.
Pakistan tops the list with a remarkable 192 talented students who were granted these scholarships followed by India (174), Bangladesh (140), Mexico (118), and Nigeria (109).
A total of 2,835 students from 143 countries were awarded an EU-funded scholarship to start any of the 146 Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree programs. It’s worth noting that Pakistan also ranked first in the world during last year’s selection, where 3,013 students from 133 countries were chosen for the same program.
Moreover, in March 2022, the United States had announced 500 additional scholarships for university students from flood-affected areas in Pakistan to help them finish their education.
The scholarships were disclosed by US Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome during an event that was conducted to acknowledge the accomplishments of female scholars on International Women’s Day at the Higher Education Commission (HEC) in Islamabad.
