Govt agrees to cricket team’s visit of India for World Cup

ISLAMABAD: A committee constituted by the government to decide the fate of Pakistan cricket team’s tour to India for the World Cup on on Thursday asked the International Cricket Council (ICC) to ensure foolproof security for the cricket team. 

A meeting of the committee was held under the chair of Foreign Minister Bilawal-Bhutto Zardari. The committee considered pros and cons of Pakistani team’s participation in the upcoming World Cup in India. 

Sources said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) had agreed to send the team to India. However, it asked the ICC to ensure foolproof security for the Pakistan team in the mega event. 

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar, Information Minister Marrriyum Aurangzeb and Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar agreed to send the team to India provided the international cricket body assured it of security.
