PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi visited Police Lines Tank to honor the police personnel who lost their lives in Monday’s terrorist attack.
The Chief Minister laid a wreath at the Martyrs’ Memorial, prayed for the elevation of the martyrs’ ranks, and sought patience and strength for the bereaved families.
During his visit, the Chief Minister met with local elders and the families of the martyred officers, expressing solidarity and acknowledging their courage and resilience in the face of tragedy.
In his address, he paid tribute to the steadfastness of the police and security forces, highlighting their critical role in maintaining law and order and combating terrorism across the province.
“The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police is at the frontline of the fight against terrorism, confronting threats with courage, professionalism, and determination,” said the Chief Minister.
He assured that the provincial government is fully aware of the challenges faced by the police force and is taking practical and coordinated measures to strengthen their operational capacity.
He emphasized that the welfare of police personnel, institutional strengthening, and enhanced operational readiness are among the government’s top priorities, and all issues faced by the force would be addressed on a priority basis.
Chief Minister Afridi also highlighted the sacrifices made by the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the past two decades, stating that the province has borne the brunt of terrorism while demonstrating remarkable national responsibility.
“Though this war was not of our making, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has faced severe consequences, sacrificing more than 80,000 lives for peace in Pakistan and the region,” he said. He added that such sacrifices cannot and will not be forgotten.
Reiterating the government’s commitment, the Chief Minister assured that full support would continue to be extended to the families of the martyred police personnel at every level.
He urged the people and security forces to move forward with courage and perseverance, expressing confidence that lasting peace in the province is within reach.
