After Chila, Sheikh Rashid goes on a ‘mission’

Appeals to nation on social networking platform of X to help him succeed in his mission.

ISLAMABAD: Veteran politician and head of his Awami Muslim League Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has announced to go on a mission and urged the nation on the social networking platform of X to help him.

Rashid was picked up from his Bahria Town residence on September 18 and taken away by law enforcement agencies. He remained un-traced with police expressing ignorance about his whereabouts when a petition was filed in Lahore High Court.

However, after a month, he appeared in a TV channel and claimed that he had gone on a Chila (meditation).

In the interview, he said he had always advised former prime minister and PTI chief Imran Khan not to go on a collision course with the establishment but he did not heed to his advice.

He also said that on May 9 when the PTI went on a rampage abd resorted to arson attacks on military installations, he was out of the country and a day later had condemned the incidents.

Now the AML chief has announced that from Monday (today) he is launching a mission to get pardon for all those who were involved in the May 9 violence and have either been arrested or are on hiding to avoid being caught and jailed.

My mission is to get forgiveness for all those who committed the blunder a d are now repenting on it.

In his posts on X, he said I had never made an appeal to the nation in the past but now passionately urge my supporters to help me in the mission.

It may be noted that in the same interview to the private TV channel after his return from the so-called Chila, Rashid had blamed twitter, now X, for his predicament, saying there were no allegations or any case against him except his posts on X which his captors showed him as evidence.
