MUZAFFARABAD: Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Sardar Faisal Mumtaz Rathore has directed the administration and rescue organizations to remain on high alert in light of the recent weather conditions.
He said that due to the possibility of heavy snowfall and adverse weather, all relevant agencies must be fully prepared to handle any emergency situation.
He also instructed that machinery should be available at all times in areas prone to heavy snowfall and landslides. Additionally, the Prime Minister highlighted the need for the timely restoration of roadways, providing assistance to tourists and travelers, and ensuring efficient emergency responses.
Rathore urged the public to take necessary precautions in view of the weather conditions and advised against unnecessary travel.
Alert in Gilgit-Baltistan
Gilgit-Baltistan Caretaker Chief Minister Yar Muhammad Nasir also directed all relevant departments, including Gilgit-Baltistan Disaster Management Authority and Rescue 1122, to remain alert in view of the recent spell of rain and snowfall.
In a statement, he instructed them to take timely steps to clear snow from the highways and roads in all affected districts.
The caretaker chief minister also directed to utilize all available resources and ensure timely provision of relief to the earthquake victims to reduce the difficulties being faced due to snowfall.
