ISLAMABAD: PTI leader Aleema Khan has stated that the controversial February 8 protest call was made by the PTI alliance, not the party’s founder Imran Khan.
Speaking to the media after a hearing at the Anti-Terrorism Court, she clarified that the party founder had instructed Suhail Afridi on a street movement, but never told anyone to act against the law.
Aleema Khan said she informed the court that the founder had called for peaceful protests in support of judicial independence. She alleged that authorities were attempting to target their members, with police reportedly arresting three female workers and seizing more than eight vehicles outside Rawat police station.
She further claimed that the PTI founder is being held in solitary confinement illegally, and that books she submitted to the court were being delivered to him in jail.
Aleema Khan’s lawyer, Faisal Malik, noted that during cross-examination, prosecution witnesses had not presented any evidence directly linking her to the allegations, and all witnesses were affiliated with the police, which operates under the Punjab government.
