Ambassador Shaikh Attends Pakistan Day Parade in New Jersey

NEW YORK: The Pakistani American community in New Jersey celebrated Pakistan Day with a colorful parade, attended by Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Shaikh, and the Consul General of Pakistan in New York, Aamer Ahmed Atozai.

The annual event drew a large crowd, featuring cultural stalls, traditional cuisines, and handicrafts that showcased Pakistan’s heritage. Patriotic songs and performances by Pakistani artists added to the festive spirit, with participants expressing pride in their homeland.

Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Shaikh called Pakistan’s Independence Day “a proud milestone in the nation’s history,” noting that this year’s celebrations carried added joy following Pakistan’s recent victory in Bunyanul Marsoos. He said the achievement had united the country under strong leadership.

The ambassador also lauded the contributions of the Pakistani American community, describing them as a source of pride for Pakistan. He urged diaspora members to remain active in the civic and democratic life of the United States while maintaining strong cultural ties with their heritage.

In his remarks, Ambassador Shaikh highlighted Pakistan’s growing recognition in sports, commending the national ice hockey team for its recent success at the Amerigol Latam Ice Hockey Tournament in the United States.

The parade concluded with a reaffirmation of solidarity between Pakistan and its diaspora, as participants celebrated national pride and cultural understanding.
