Another leader quits PTI and joins new party of deserters

Farukh Habib says he had been out of touch with family for over three weeks for different reasons.

LAHORE: Another PTI leader, Farukh Habib on Monday held a press conference at the office of newly-formed Istihkam-e-Pakistan (IPP) and announced to part ways with the party of jailed former prime minister and PTI chairman Imran Khan.

He said for the last five months he had been out of home and since May 9th incidents did not face the law and for over three weeks he was even not in touch with his family for a number of reasons. He said since the May 9th violence, he had been thinking if we had come to politics for this purpose; to promote politics of violence. This was not a war between right and wrong. Quad-e-Azam had created Pakistan not to promote this type of politics.

Habib was arrested in Gwadar last month by security personnel in plainclothes. However, he was never presented in any court.

Habib said that the PTI government was removed through the legal and constitutional way of no-confidence move but after that instead of political suggest the party adopted the path of violence. He also said that the incidents of May 9th were unfortunate and condemnable.

He said when the violence started unfolding, he didn’t join any protest, adding May 9 would be remembered as a black day. Habib said PTI Chairman Imran Khan wanted his supporters to fight for him as he didn’t want to be arrested. He said Imran had made a mindset among his supporters due to which they went out to fight their own army.

“Unfortunately, Imran worked to promote violence for long,” he added.
