Anti-India Sentiment Rapidly Growing in Occupied Kashmir: Report

NEW DELHI: Anti-India sentiment is rapidly spreading in Indian-occupied Kashmir as a direct result of the policies pursued by the Modi-led Indian government, according to an independent report.

The findings come from a report published by the “Concerned Citizens Group,” an organization led by former Indian foreign minister Yashwant Sinha.

The report states that the ground realities in occupied Kashmir are starkly different from the narrative presented by the Modi government to the international community.

According to the report, harsh and oppressive measures adopted by the Modi administration have significantly intensified anger, resentment, and frustration among the Kashmiri population. The continued use of coercive tactics has deepened feelings of alienation and distrust toward India.

The report further highlights that the government led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in occupied Kashmir holds no real administrative or political authority, leaving local leadership powerless.

This lack of autonomy has further contributed to growing disillusionment, hopelessness, and political disengagement among Kashmiris.

Observers note that the erosion of democratic space, coupled with centralized control from New Delhi, has widened the gap between the Kashmiri people and the Indian state.

The report warns that unless meaningful political engagement and genuine empowerment of local institutions are restored, public resentment in occupied Kashmir is likely to continue escalating.
