Anyone involved in Faiz Hameed case will face action: Army

Spokesman says army neither has inclination towards any political party nor it promotes any political agenda.

RAWALPINDI: Anyone found involved in the case of former chief of Inter-Services Intelligence Gen Faiz Hameed will face action irrespective of their rank and office, said military spokesman Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry.

Speaking at a press conference at the GHQ on Thursday, General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that the army neither had inclination towards any political party nor it promotes any political agenda for its own interest. He said if any individual was found involved in running a political agenda for his own vested interest, the accountability system of the army comes into action.

About the detention and court martial of former ISI chief retired Gen Faiz Hameed, he said that a complaint had been received against him through the interior minister in connection with the Top City corruption case.

He said that the army had announced on Aug 12 that Gen Hameed had violated the Army Act abd also during and after service and that’s why court martial proceedings were started against him.

The DG Inter-Services Public Relations said that our accountability is transparent and it works on evidence.

In reply to a question, he said that anyone found involved in the case of Gen Faiz Hameed will face action irrespective of their rank and office.

In reply to another question, he said that there had been no increase in the military budget. He said the army and its subsidiary organizations paid Rs360 billions of taxes.

The military spokesman also said that in response to the terror attacks in Balochistan on Aug 25-26, the army killed 21 terrorists. He said the terrorists had nothing to do with Islam and Pakistan and the army would continue its operation till their elimination.
