Appointment Of 1986 Constables In Punjab Police Approved

LAHORE: The Punjab provincial cabinet has approved the recruitment of 1,986 constables and lady constables in the Punjab Police.

This decision brings relief to candidates who were on the waiting list from last year’s recruitment process.

According to the orders of the Inspector General of Punjab Police, the DIG Establishment-II has issued a formal letter to relevant officers. The letter states that candidates who missed recruitment in March 2025 will now be appointed.

A total of 1,680 seats have been allocated across 34 districts of the province, with 15 percent reserved for women, 10 percent for ex-servicemen, 5 percent for minorities, and 70 percent on open merit. If suitable candidates are not available for the reserved quotas, those seats will be merged into open merit.

Recruitment Committees have also been formed. For Lahore District, the committee will be chaired by the CCPO Lahore, with the DIG Admin as Secretary and the SP Headquarters as a member. For other districts, the committee will be chaired by the RPO, with the CPO/DPO as Secretary and the SSP IB as a member.

The letter further instructs that the recruitment process from the waiting list must be completed by August 21, 2025, and all stages, including medical examinations, must be finalised by October 21, 2025, after which appointment letters will be issued.
