ISLAMABAD: The district and sessions court in Islamabad on Saturday issued arrest warrants against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in a case involving the seizure of illegal arms and liquor from his vehicle many years ago.
The court has ordered that Gandapur be arrested and produced before the court. His request for exemption from attendance has been rejected.
The court has also given Gandapur a final opportunity to record his statement under Section 342 of the Criminal Procedure Code. The court warned that if he fails to record his statement, his right to do so may be forfeited, and the court may proceed to deliver a verdict in the case.
The court has ordered that Ali Amin Gandapur be arrested and presented before the court before July 21.
The court’s order emphasized that failure to arrest Ali Amin Gandapur should not occur, noting that the case has been pending for eight years. Since May 2024, prosecution witnesses have already recorded their statements, but Ali Amin Gandapur has deliberately avoided recording his statement under Section 342.
The court also stated that the Peshawar High Court’s ruling does not prevent it from issuing arrest warrants against Ali Amin Gandapur.
